The Government of Lesotho, through the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the African Tourism Board at a ceremony held in Maseru on Monday.
The Principal Secretary of the Ministry, Ms. Mantiti Khabo, on behalf of the Minister, said the partnership is aimed at strengthening the sustainable development of tourism in Lesotho.
She said it is a sign of Lesotho’s commitment to overcoming existing challenges by learning from countries that are part of the Board.
Meanwhile, the President and Chairperson of the African Tourism Board, Dr. Cuthbert Simphiwe Ncube, said on behalf of the Board, they commit to supporting Lesotho’s strategies and plans for tourism development.
He emphasized that the role of the Board is to ensure that no country, big or small, is left behind in global tourism development.
Among the Board’s responsibilities are marketing member countries, providing skills and guidance for tourism growth, and empowering them to use tourism as a tool for economic revival and development.
