The Lesotho National Beach Volleyball Team left the country yesterday for Maputo, Mozambique, to compete in the upcoming African Nations Championship (CAN) qualifiers and the CAVB Zone VI BVB 3rd Leg Tour. The tournament is a critical step in the journey towards continental and global sporting milestones.
The CAN qualifiers are particularly significant as they serve as a pathway for African teams to earn qualification spots for the 2027 Beach Volleyball World Championship and the 2028 Olympic Games. Success in these qualifiers could open doors for Lesotho to showcase its talent on the world stage.
The team’s journey is organized under Mrs. Maleteketoa Sekhonyana serving as team manager and Mr. Moholo Lekomola as head coach. The squad features two competitive pairs: Neo Chapole and Moroesi Tolofi, as well as Palesa Mapota and Relebohile Ndaga.
This international exposure presents an invaluable opportunity for Lesotho’s athletes to gain experience and improve their rankings, while also promoting the sport within the country. The team’s participation underscores Lesotho’s commitment to developing its volleyball program and achieving success at the continental level.
