The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, is currently in Luanda, Angola, where he is attending the 7th African Union–European Union Summit.
This high-level meeting brings together Heads of State and Government from across Africa and Europe to mark 25 years of the AU–EU partnership — a milestone in Africa–Europe cooperation.
The summit, which runs from the 24th to the 25th of November, focuses on advancing shared strategic priorities, including sustainable development and measurable economic outcomes.
According to the Prime Minister’s office Press Release, the Prime Minister is using the platform to push for Lesotho’s national and developmental interests, particularly around climate resilience, green energy, and youth empowerment.
Key priorities include securing support for Lesotho’s green transition programs such as the Metsi a Lesotho project and other renewable energy initiatives, supported under the EU’s Global Gateway Investment Package.
Mr. Matekane will also reaffirm Lesotho’s commitment to peace and security, good governance, and deeper integration within Africa and beyond.
