Mohale FM Ntoa Pitso, a 44-year-old man from Qholaqhoe in Botha-Bothe, has been remanded in custody after failing to meet bail conditions in a sexual assault case.
The Botha-Bothe Magistrate’s Court granted him bail of three thousand maloti and required him to pledge property worth fifty thousand maloti, but he failed to comply. He is expected to appear in court again next Thursday.
A 53-year-old woman reported to the police that she was sexually assaulted on the 3rd of April this year.
Investigations revealed that the accused and the victim had been seen earlier with other people at a local drinking place, consuming alcohol during the night.
The victim screamed for help, prompting community members to rush to the scene, while the accused fled as people arrived.
Police arrested him on the 8th of April, and investigations are ongoing.
