The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Lejone Mpotjoane, says his passion for development has been the driving force behind his political career.
Speaking in an interview with Mohale FM on Wednesday this week, Minister Mpotjoane said he has always been deeply moved by the sight of Basotho children going to school and later returning home with hopes of finding employment.
He noted that many people tend to discourage others from joining politics by labeling politicians as corrupt or untrustworthy. However, he explained that his strong desire to contribute to national development motivated him to leave his previous job and enter politics.
Minister Mpotjoane also revealed that a recent study on movement and cooperation within the African continent has been completed and that following this, Lesotho has signed an agreement to promote intra-African trade and cooperation, and the country has already begun trading with other African nations.
He further disclosed that the government is in discussions with another country to sign a new agreement that will create employment and other opportunities for Basotho abroad. In addition, he said a meeting will soon be held to explore more ways of helping Basotho access international opportunities.
