Thabo Qhesi says the global economy is deteriorating at an alarming rate, with the effects increasingly visible in everyday life and local businesses. Speaking to Mohale FM, Qhesi pointed to growing numbers of vacant rental properties, passenger vehicles spending days without commuters, and goods remaining unsold in shops for long periods as clear signs of worsening economic conditions.
He said these challenges have placed severe pressure on households and contributed to significant economic losses within the country. Thabo Qhesi Qhesi further noted that ongoing wars in some of the world’s wealthiest nations have played a major role in weakening the global economy.
He stressed that the economic hardship is not unique to Lesotho, saying many countries are experiencing similar struggles. He cited Zambia as one example, saying conditions there also reflect the broader economic difficulties currently affecting several nations worldwide.
