RSL Says Requirement for Motor Vehicles Entering South Africa are Laws of SARS

South African Revenue Service (SARS) has implemented stricter measures for motor vehicles entering South Africa from Lesotho and other countries.
Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) spokesperson Mr. Thabang Loko emphasized that the directive comes solely from SARS and not RSL. He said RSL has no control over how the system operates, noting that each country enforces its own laws and procedures.
This is upon the upcoming enforcement of the requirement for all foreign-registered motor vehicles, including those from SACU countries to complete a temporary importation declaration when entering South Africa.
The new requirement will apply to all foreign-registered vehicles, including those from SACU countries, and is set to take effect on June 1, 2026.
