At around 13:15 this afternoon in Mokhotlong, His Majesty King Letsie III together with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa jointly cut the ribbon symbolising the official opening of Senqu Bridge.
The ceremony, currently underway, is massively attended by high ranking officials from both South Africa and Lesotho including Prime Minister Sam Ntsokoane Matekane, Lesotho Highlands Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Tente Tente, South African Minister of Water Affairs and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina and Minister of Natural Resources Mohlomi Moleko amongst other dignitaries.
The historic moment was marked by Officials walking across the 200 metres long bridge while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the mountains above and the water below.
Currently, Senqu bridge is the longest bridge in Lesotho. Its height of 70 metres will enable a reliable flow of transport even during periods of high water flow.
More updates of the events will follow on MohaleFm as the ceremony progresses, stay tuned.
