A 30-year-old man from Mohlakeng, Resetselemang Luka, appeared before the magistrate’s court in Mohale’s Hoek on the 1st of April, facing charges for the alleged murder of his 24-year-old wife.
According to Superintendent Thabo Mohai, reports indicate that on the 30th of last month, the accused contacted his wife and asked her to meet him, claiming he intended to give her money for their child’s needs.
He further explained that the victim was discovered by a passer-by, who promptly alerted the authorities. Police officers rushed her to Nts’ekhe Hospital, and she was later transferred to Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital, where she subsequently died from her injuries.
The suspect later handed himself over to the police, along with the knife allegedly used in the incident.
The court has ordered that he remain in custody while awaiting trial. He is scheduled to appear in court again on the 15th of this month.
