Mokhotlong Records Highest Cases of Illegal Firearm Possession

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service reports that Mokhotlong district is at the forefront of cases involving residents in possession of illegal firearms.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Thabo Mohai, revealed that the chairperson of the Tlhanyaku Community Policing Forum voluntarily handed over a .38 Special pistol along with ammunition for a 7.65mm firearm.

The 47-year-old chairperson explained that the firearm had been given to him by a 35-year-old man, also from Tlhanyaku, Lits’oeneng.
Superintendent Mohai praised the action, stating that it sets a positive example and encourages all residents with illegally held firearms to surrender them, assuring them they will not face arrest for doing so.
He further noted that police received a tip-off about men allegedly passing an illegal firearm among themselves during a funeral farewell event.

The four men involved, aged between 22 and 39, reportedly hail from Malubalube and Nkonanele Moreneng, and are scheduled to appear in court today.
