LNFOD participates in UN disability rights session

The Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled, LNFOD, is participating in the 34th session of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Geneva, Switzerland.
The session began today and runs until Wednesday as Lesotho undergoes a review of its implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The LNFOD delegation includes Executive Director Rabasotho Moeletsi and Human Rights and Advocacy Officer Thaabe Moso, among others. The organisation submitted an Alternative Report assessing Lesotho’s progress since ratifying the convention in 2008.
The report notes that despite the enactment of the Persons with Disabilities Equity Act in 2021, challenges remain, including limited access to justice, accessibility barriers in public services, and the lack of explicit constitutional protection against disability-based discrimination.
