Two foreign nationals have been convicted by the Maseru Magistrate’s Court for unlawfully residing in Lesotho.
A 33-year-old Chinese national, Wei Sheng, who was living in Borokhoaneng, and a 60-year-old Filipino national, Armando Enarno, who was residing in Maseru West, were convicted on the 21st of last month.
According to Inspector ’Mareabetsoe Mofoka, the court found both individuals guilty of illegally staying in the country and sentenced them to one month’s imprisonment while arrangements were made for their repatriation to their respective home countries.
Inspector Mofoka said Wei Sheng was repatriated on the 1st of this month, while Armando Enarno is expected to return to the Philippines on the 5th of this month. He added that, in addition to the prison sentences, the court also imposed fines on both individuals.
