PWDAC calls for new perception among Basotho

The Advisory Council of Persons with Disability (PWDAC) is calling for a new perception among Basotho, towards their own, stating that given a chance, people living with disability could contribute meaningfully to the economy.
This statement was uttered by PWDAC Director General Nkhasi Sefuthi during the signing of a memorandum of Understanding between his organization and the office of the Ombudsman in Maseru on Tuesday.
Through the MOU, which will span for a period of five years, the two organisations will work jointly towards enforcing the rights of People with disability; ensuring they gain access to education, work, information as well as the basic recognition as members of the society without suffering any prejudice.
Mr Sefuthi emphasized that it would take joint efforts for Basotho to become fully sensitized on disability matters.

Meanwhile, Ombudsman ‘Matlotliso Polaki said that through the Memorandum of Understanding, the organisations will work together to advance a shared mandate, while exchanging skills and strategies to address common challenges.
Ms Polaki further stated that recommendations made during the joint participation will enable government to construct better policies towards the promotion of human rights.
