Youth in Lesotho have convened at the Manthabiseng Convention Centre to discuss solutions to youth unemployment and limited access to finance.
The gathering, known as the Youth Networking Pitso, focused on empowering young people with entrepreneurial skills, financial knowledge, and strategies to promote self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Addressing participants, youth entrepreneur Kopano Sekhoari urged young people to seek opportunities proactively rather than waiting for grants.
He emphasized the importance of honesty and transparency in business, saying these values help build trust and improve access to support.
Sekhoari also encouraged youth to openly share their business ideas to create opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and funding.
Meanwhile, a waste management entrepreneur Limpho Thoahlane cautioned young people against the misuse of social media, noting that digital platforms can be both beneficial and harmful if not used responsibly.
Former youth activist and author Keketso Jonase called on young people to invest in reading and personal development to strengthen their mental well-being and innovative capacity.
The event was organized by UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration, and the European Union under the Youth Power Hub initiative.
