Basotho women and young girls have been urged to seek wisdom and take responsibility for their lives during the festive season and year-end celebrations.
A pastor and counsellor, Mrs ’Malijo Baji, made the appeal while speaking on Mohale FM today. She cautioned that this period, marked by increased movement and entertainment events, often exposes women and young girls to decisions that may have long-term consequences.
Mrs Baji said women and young girls frequently end up raising children on their own, despite having the power to choose whether or not to have children. She described it as painful for someone to wake up to the reality of single parenthood without support, even though the child was not conceived alone.
She stressed that during the festive season, people should seek wisdom from God before making life-altering decisions.
Mrs Baji added that true wisdom begins with self-love, noting that women are fully aware of the steps they can take to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
She revealed that her counselling office often receives requests from very young women who are overwhelmed by the responsibility of raising children, a situation that motivated her to share this message.
She concluded by encouraging women and young girls to prioritise their well-being and future as the country prepares to welcome the new year.
