High Court Sentences Man to 10 Years for Killing Brother

The High Court of Ts’ifa-li-Mali in Leribe has sentenced Ts’eliso Chabalala of Ha Sheshe, Qholaqhoe in the Botha-Bothe district to 10 years’ imprisonment or a fine of M20,000 after finding him guilty of killing his brother in an incident that occurred in 2028.

Delivering the sentence, Judge Motebele warned that a knife is a dangerous weapon that should never be treated lightly, as it can easily lead to the loss of life. She stressed that the sentence should serve as a deterrent to others who misuse dangerous weapons.

In a separate case, the Botha-Bothe Magistrate’s Court sentenced Mojalefa Leboea and Lefu Potjo to 10 years’ imprisonment or a fine of M15,000. The two failed to pay the fine and will therefore serve their full prison terms.
