Four Foreign Nationals Convicted for Working in Lesotho Without Permits

Four men — Hussain Sadath (45), Shalknoormahame Valimohamed (57), Zuhuang He (54) and Mehhoob Siddique (58), nationals of India and China, appeared before the Botha-Bothe Magistrate’s Court on 12 December this year, charged with working in Lesotho without valid work permits.

The court found them guilty as charged and sentenced each of them to six months’ imprisonment or a fine of M2,000.00. Half of the sentence was suspended. The accused paid M1,000.00 each, thereby avoiding imprisonment.

Police Constable (P/C) Tebatso Ntaleng, from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Immigration Control Office, said that on 2 December 2025 police officers conducted an operation to check whether foreign nationals were in possession of valid documents allowing them to reside and work in the country.

He added that upon arrival at the workplace where the accused were employed, officers requested to see their documents, but the accused failed to produce the required permits.
