Limkokwing University Launches cyber squad

In a compelling ceremony held at Limkokwing University of Technology, the university officials and partners officially launched the institution’s new Cyber Security Community, dubbed the “Cyber Squad.”

The event forms part of the nationwide Cyber Security Awareness Month, aimed to empower students to become active participants in safeguarding the digital environment.

The Technical Manager of the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA), Molupe Molupe emphasized that cyber security is not solely a concern for governments and large corporations, but a shared responsibility that touches everyone in the digital age.

Mr Molupe stated that Cyber security is not just a concern for government agencies or big corporations, rather it is something that touches everyone every single day.

He pointed out that Every time a person logs in, shares, posts, or tweets, they are participating in the digital world.

He further underscored the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining a secure online environment. He explained that Cyber security starts with the individual user, who makes smart choices online. He said young people, are the most connected generation in history, and are also the most targeted hence awareness and education are their strongest defenses against cyber threats.

Meanwhile, Tsietsi Matjele from the faculty of information said in this era of constant connectivity where every click you tap is crucial, it is important for them to be on the for front in the security of the Cyber space.
