Pan-African Parliament and African Leadership Foundation Forge Partnership to Promote People-Centered Governance

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) and the African Leadership Foundation (ALF) have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening governance, human rights, and citizen participation across the continent.

The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on initiatives that foster democratic, accountable, and people-driven leadership in Africa.

The MoU, signed by PAP President H.E. Chief Fortune Zephania Charumbira and Dr. Olumide Ajayi, Executive Director of ALF, outlines a broad framework for cooperation in key areas such as capacity-building for parliamentarians and parliamentary staff, joint research and policy development, diplomatic engagement, and advocacy efforts.

An emphasis will also be placed on encouraging the ratification and domestication of African Union legal instruments to strengthen continental legal frameworks.

His Excellency Charumbira said the partnership reflects their shared commitment to harnessing collective strengths to foster democratic values, uphold human rights, and ensure that governance on the continent is truly people-centered.

This collaboration underscores the ongoing efforts by African institutions and civil society to build resilient institutions that prioritize citizens’ needs and promote sustainable development.
