Mohale FM Six young men from Lesotho have secured employment as security officers in the United Arab Emirates after successfully completing an online training program facilitated by the Digital School. The initiative, launched a year ago, aims to equip local youth with leadership and technical skills to access international security officer job opportunities.
The program initially received 300 applicants who met the height requirement of 1.75 meters. Out of these, 140 candidates successfully completed the online training, which focused on leadership and security skills. Twelve additional learners are currently in the process of finalizing their contracts and are expected to depart soon for similar employment opportunities.
Minister of Education and Training, Ntoi Rapapa, lauded the success of the program, emphasizing its role in tackling unemployment among the youth. He said the achievement of the six young men demonstrates the government’s dedication to creating meaningful job opportunities and reducing unemployment through innovative approaches.
Rapapa also revealed that the partnership between his Ministry and the Digital School has been instrumental in implementing technology-driven leadership programs for security officers. He indicated that more students are likely to benefit from such initiatives, as the government remains committed to expanding employment avenues for young Basotho.
Representing the departing students, Metsing Ntoampe expressed gratitude for the exposure provided by the Digital School, noting that they have learned that the digital space is much more than entertainment and that it is a platform for opportunities. Ntoampe assured the government that the students would make the most of this opportunity, promising to utilize their skills to contribute positively.
