NACTU Accuses Prime Minister’s Office of Attempting to Divide Workers’ Unions

Mr. Sam Mokhele from the National Council of Trade Unions (NACTU) has accused the Prime Minister’s Office of attempting to divide the six united workers’ unions through a letter recently sent to them.
Speaking in an interview with Mohale FM, Mr. Mokhele said the letter from the Prime Minister’s Office appeared to be aimed at creating division among the unions, which have been working together in pursuit of common labour demands.
The letter reportedly asked the unions to specify the category under which they wish to be addressed, so that the Prime Minister can respond accordingly.
Mr. Mokhele explained that the six unions held a joint meeting where they resolved that each organization would respond individually. However, he stressed that their main goal remains the same — to seek a solution — while the responsibility for implementing it rests with the Prime Minister
The letter from the Prime Minister’s Office further suggested that each union should indicate whether it wants to be addressed as part of those that held a peaceful march or those that preferred peaceful negotiations.
