Vodacom Lesotho Chief Executive Officer Mohale Ralebitso has urged the Private Sector to join forces in promoting inclusion and creating equal opportunities for people living with disabilities.
Mr Ralebitso made the statement on Wednesday this week, during the organization’s first Disability and Accessibility Conference held in Maseru.
He emphasized the need for concerted efforts to promote comprehensive inclusion which extended beyond common areas such as education to address non-commercial barriers, including practical challenges people with disabilities often encounter.
He said overlooking modalities such as door handle placements and countertop heights contributed to non-inclusiveness.
In her keynote address, Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Bereng Seeiso called on government to prioritize budget allocation towards initiatives that address the plight of people living with disability, particularly towards programs targeting children with disabilities.
The Queen further called for the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning to set up a Disability Public Fund in accordance with The Persons with disability Equity Act.
