17-year-old from Ts’enola faces rape and robbery charges

A 17-year-old boy from Tšenola in Maseru is expected to appear before the
Maseru Magistrate’s Court on 18 September, facing eight counts of rape and
three counts of aggravated robbery.
The suspect first appeared in court on 9 September and is currently held at a
juvenile rehabilitation centre awaiting trial for a rape charge.
Deputy Police Spokesperson, Inspector ’Mareabetsoe Mofoka, said thereafter,
the police called on members of the public, especially women who might have
been sexually assaulted along specific routes, to report. These included areas
between Senkatana and Mohlomi hospitals, near the new cancer treatment
centre, between the National Health Training College, and the Mathokoane to
SOS route.
Inspector Mofoka confirmed that some victims have already come forward
following the appeal, and this has led to the minor being slapped with
additional charges of rape and robbery.
