Zambia’s Food Reserve Agency has signed an agreement to supply 540,000 tonnes of white Grade A non-GMO maize to Kenya’s Baita Trading Company. The deal is expected to be fulfilled through staged shipments and is being presented as an opportunity to earn foreign exchange while expanding markets for Zambian grain. Officials say stronger agricultural exports could support farmers and help Zambia build its role as a regional food supplier. The agreement follows recent growth in the country’s agricultural export earnings.
