The Lefisoana Empowerment Group was officially introduced on today during a
press conference held in Hlotse, Leribe. The group, established and legally
registered in August 2025, aims to address issues affecting women and girls in
Lesotho.
Speaking at the event, Chairperson Lawrence Tsukutla, said the group was
formed in response to challenges such as youth unemployment, poverty, and
rising prostitution, which also impact women and their children. He
emphasized the need for support from government and other organisations,
noting that several organisations have already shown willingness to assist.
Secretary General, Reabiloe Mokhabi, highlighted programmes that will benefit
youth and women, including entrepreneurship, business training, drug
awareness, and scholarships. He said the group will be officially launched on 25
October, with a joining fee for youth set at M50.
The group consists of 10 members, led by President Mokhabelane Morahanye,
and this press conference marked their first official public meeting.
