WASCO concerned over vandalism of Mohale’s Hoek reservoir

The Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) says it is concerned and disappointed by the recent vandalism of a reservoir in Mohale’s Hoek, which has led to unnecessary water losses while the district continues to face severe water shortages.

The utility says damage to pipes, valves and reservoirs delays efforts to provide reliable water supplies to homes, schools, health centres and businesses.

Despite the setback, WASCO says it is working with the Department of Water Affairs to improve water availability in the district. As part of these efforts, five additional boreholes have already been drilled to supplement existing water supplies and help reduce the ongoing shortage.

The company has appealed to residents of Mohale’s Hoek to protect water infrastructure and report acts of vandalism, saying such facilities are meant to serve the entire community.
