Vodacom Lesotho, through its Vodacom Bursary programme, has awarded fully sponsored bursaries to six students pursuing STEM subjects in higher education.
The beneficiaries include students with disabilities; a move aimed at promoting inclusive education and equal learning opportunities.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Vodacom Lesotho Chief Executive Officer, Mohale Ralebitso said the bursary initiative represents only a fraction of the company’s broader commitment to social development. He explained that the programme is intended to contribute to building the Lesotho envisioned by King Moshoeshoe the first, emphasizing that sustainable success is not possible in a poor country.
Ralebitso urged all stakeholders to “roll up their sleeves” and play an active role in uplifting Lesotho and its people. He congratulated the bursary recipients, noting that they are among a small group of fortunate young Basotho to benefit from such an opportunity.
He further highlighted that fewer than five percent of young Basotho receive support of this nature, adding that the bursary places no obligation on the recipients other than to complete their studies, as it is offered purely as a gift.
