The conflict involving the United States and Iran widened further on September 9 after US forces said they destroyed five Iranian crude-oil carriers following Iranian Revolutionary Guard ballistic-missile attacks on a US Navy warship.
Al Jazeera reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard then said it struck a base in Jordan hosting US troops. The IRGC navy also warned tanker crews in Kuwait and Bahrain to leave their vessels, threatening further attacks on shipping in the region.
The latest exchange raises fresh concerns about maritime security and energy flows through the Gulf, where any sustained disruption could have consequences for global oil markets and regional stability.
