Officer Commanding of the ‘Muela Police, Inspector Renang Mokholokoe, has appealed to young people to refrain from abusing drugs and alcohol, saying substance abuse often leads to criminal behavior. His remarks follow the arrest of two young men charged with the murder of a 49-year-old man.
The accused, Thato Mahloko (25) and Teboho Paki (22), both from ‘Moteng, appeared before the Botha-Bothe Magistrate’s Court on 1 July 2026, on a charge of murder. They remain in custody at the Correctional Service pending their next court appearance.
Detective Police Constable Fusi Ntšupa of the Muela Criminal Investigation Department said police received a report on 16 June 2026 that a 49-year-old man had been killed.
Investigations revealed that the two accused and the deceased had been drinking together in a local tavern when an argument broke out. The dispute escalated, and the two men allegedly assaulted the victim, inflicting fatal injuries.
The suspects were arrested on 17 June 2026. The case has been postponed, and they are expected to appear in court again on 10 July 2026.
