US President Donald Trump has pushed back against some of the most serious warnings about artificial intelligence, saying critics are raising scenarios he believes are unlikely to happen.
Speaking in Ireland, Trump said the United States should remain ahead of China in AI development and argued that leadership in the technology will carry major economic and strategic advantages.
His comments come as debate intensifies inside the technology industry over whether the pace of advanced AI development should slow. Researchers and executives have warned about risks ranging from misuse to loss of control, while others argue that excessive restrictions could weaken competitiveness.
Trump said guardrails could be considered but maintained that the United States should not surrender its lead in the sector.
