Travel Document Production Resumes Despite Equipment Challenges

The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Mpopo Ts’oele, has clarified that the suspension of travel document production is no longer in effect.
In an interview with Mohale FM earlier today, Mr. Ts’oele explained that staff in the department have resumed work, although operations are not yet at full capacity. He attributed the slowdown to a shortage of functional machinery, noting that the equipment currently in use is outdated and worn out, and therefore no longer performs efficiently.
His remarks follow a letter dated 2 April that circulated on social media, which stated that the production of travel documents had been temporarily halted.
The letter, addressed to departmental management, cited ongoing technical challenges as the reason for the suspension, while also confirming that a maintenance team had already begun working to resolve the issue.
