Traffic Commissioner, Khothatso Tšooana, has expressed concern that some motorists continue to flout traffic laws despite repeated appeals.

Speaking during a joint inspection campaign with the police at Selakhapane, Khubetsoana, today, Dr Tšooana said a passenger taxi was impounded after being found without proper documentation. He noted that the vehicle’s plate number had been hidden and it was displaying an incorrect license plate for a different travel route.

He explained that the ongoing campaign targets road violators, particularly those operating illegally, warning that such drivers contribute to accidents. He added that the police are also pursuing offenders using fake licenses, who will face prosecution in the courts.

Meanwhile, one taxi driver, who spoke anonymously, accused the department of frustrating operators by failing to issue documents on time. He said many drivers are forced onto the roads out of desperation, appealing to authorities to resolve persistent shortages of materials needed for license renewals.
