Police in Qacha’s Nek are continuing investigations into a deadly livestock theft-related incident that occurred between Mohale’s Hoek and Qacha’s Nek last week.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Thabo Mohai, confirmed that two suspected livestock thieves who were rushed to Machabeng Hospital after sustaining injuries later died. He said the two were among those allegedly involved in the incident.
Superintendent Mohai also confirmed that a member of the community policing forum, who had joined local residents in searching for the stolen livestock, also succumbed to injuries, bringing the death toll to three.
Three other people were injured during the incident and remain in hospital receiving medical treatment. He further stated that no stolen livestock has been recovered.
Police in Qacha’s Nek have opened investigations into three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. No arrests have been made, and no one has been charged in connection with the incident.
