Thousands of young women have gathered at Mbangweni Royal Residence in Eswatini’s Shiselweni region for the second leg of the annual Umhlanga ceremony.
Times of Eswatini reports that the three-day programme follows the main celebrations at Ludzidzini Royal Residence and brings together Imbali regiments from communities across the country. Organisers have emphasised safety, guidance and welfare during the gathering, while NERCHA has provided sanitary products for participants.
The programme includes the collection and delivery of reeds before the main dance, with regiments from areas including Lobamba and Ngabezweni expected to take part.
