The High Court dismisses Kholumo’s bid to remain in his India diplomatic post

High Court Justice Tšeliso Mokoko has dismissed Thabang Kholumo’s legal bid to challenge the government’s decision to recall him from his diplomatic post in India.

Kholumo was appointed Counsellor to India on 22 August 2022, but was instructed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to return to Lesotho and report in Maseru by 15 September 2025.

He argued that he expected to complete his three-year final tour, saying other officers posted to India alongside him had their contracts renewed.

Kholumo also told the court he had secured interest from about twenty potential investors willing to explore opportunities in Lesotho, and cited medical reasons for wanting to remain in India.

However, Justice Mokoko dismissed the application, effectively upholding the government’s decision to recall him.
