A Tanzanian court has discharged University of Dodoma lecturer Melkisedek Kaijage after prosecutors said they no longer intended to pursue terrorism and economic-sabotage charges against him.
The Citizen reports that the Dodoma court imposed reporting and conduct conditions requested by regional police authorities. Kaijage is required to report monthly for one year, remain in Dodoma unless permission is granted and provide two sureties.
The court was also told that the lecturer may pursue doctoral studies abroad. The reporting condition can be reviewed if he produces the necessary travel and study documentation.
