SR Raises Alarm Over Summoning of Party Leader

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Socialist Revolutionaries (SR), Mr Molibeli Damane, says the recent summoning of the party’s leader, Advocate Teboho Mojapela, for questioning has raised serious concerns.

Damane said their primary concern is that although Advocate Mojapela was initially contacted by phone, the reason for the summons was never explained during that conversation. He stated that upon reporting to the police, Advocate Mojapela was informed that the summon was intended to threaten and warn him against speaking out about alleged corruption within the government and its leadership.

He further said that Advocate Mojapela was later instructed to report to one of the military offices. At that point, Damane explained, the SR leader became suspicious that there might be a plot against him by those in power, prompting him to take steps to protect his life.

Damane dismissed claims that Advocate Mojapela had fled the country, but said he had decided not to return to Lesotho until after the general elections. He also denied allegations that the summon was linked to the case involving the theft of Lesotho Defence Force firearms, a matter which Advocate Mojapela has previously denied any involvement in.
