Former Minister of Police, Lepota Sekola, has passed away.
His son, Rethabile Sekola, confirmed the news to the Lesotho Times, stating that the former Minister of Police, who also previously served as Minister of Water, died this morning at around 11am after an illness.
“Yes, it is true my father is gone; he has left us. He departed today at around 11am,” he said.
He explained that Mr Sekola had been taken to Makonyane Military Hospital before being transferred to Tšepong (Mamohato Memorial Hospital), where he was discharged yesterday. After the discharge, Rethabile took him home.
“This morning, when I came to check on him, I found him different — he was worse. I took him to Villa, but when I arrived there, they told me I was late.
“He was sick, but it was not that bad. I didn’t expect that he would be gone, but…” he said.
Earlier this year, Mr Sekola left his long-time party, the All Basotho Convention, to join the Revolution for Prosperity.
