South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Deputy President Paul Mashatile are both temporarily off public duty on doctors’ advice.
Ramaphosa has been advised to rest after falling ill following extensive travel, including his return from the BRICS Summit in India, while Mashatile is recovering from a minor medical procedure.
Cabinet ministers have stepped in to handle government business, including international engagements.
The simultaneous absence raises questions about leadership continuity as South Africa approaches local government elections.
