South African insurer OUTsurance has announced a higher ordinary dividend and a special dividend after reporting strong results for the year to the end of June.
Normalised earnings increased 20.9% to R6 billion, while headline earnings per share rose 23.5% to 368.5 cents. Insurance revenue climbed to R41.49 billion from R37.13 billion a year earlier and profit increased to R6.18 billion.
The group declared a final dividend of 170.8 cents per share, taking the full-year ordinary payout to 291.5 cents, as well as a special dividend of 87.5 cents per share. OUTsurance said strong performance in its South African property and casualty operations helped offset higher natural-peril claims at its Australian business, Youi.
