Norway has announced plans to open a new embassy in Qatar while closing its diplomatic mission in Malawi as part of a broader restructuring of its foreign service.
The Norwegian government said the changes follow a review of its global diplomatic and consular presence. The move will expand Norway’s formal presence in the Gulf while ending its resident embassy operation in Malawi.
Officials described the decision as part of an effort to adapt diplomatic resources to changing foreign-policy and consular priorities.
