THE 2026 Nedbank Maseru City Run took centre stage yesterday, transforming the streets of Maseru into a hive of athletic excitement as local and international runners competed across multiple race distances.
The premier road race has attracted a record 3200 competitors, underscoring its rapid growth since its launch in 2023.
Athletes contested the 1.6km, 5km, 10km, 21.1km (half marathon) and the 42.2km full marathon, with the starting line at Makoanyane Square and finish line at Maseru Club.
Adding prestige to the occasion, Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Princess Senate Seeiso and Prince Lerotholi Seeiso competed in the 10km, 5km and 21km races respectively.
Meanwhile, Local Organising Committee (LOC) official, Thabo Tšoeute of Eventful Moments indicated that international participants—mainly from South Africa, with others from Botswana and Zimbabwe—began arriving on Friday. He said most of them were social runners.
The event is primarily sponsored by Nedbank Lesotho, which has committed M1 million over three years.
