NDSO Warns of Possible Distribution Challenges for Lenacapavir Vaccine

Mr. Lekotoane Namole of the National Drug Service Organization (NDSO) in the Mafeteng district says that although the Lenacapovir vaccine was officially received and introduced to the public by the Deputy Prime Minister last Wednesday, challenges may still arise in ensuring it reaches those who need it most.

Speaking in an interview with Mohale FM, Namole said the method of distribution could present difficulties if not properly planned. He added that communication may also prove challenging, as some members of the public are questioning who will be eligible to receive the vaccine and how the process will be carried out.

Namole noted that vaccine acceptance could be affected by lingering misinformation from previous vaccination campaigns. Additionally, there are concerns that some individuals may fail to complete the required two-dose schedule.

He explained that the vaccine is administered to individuals aged 16 years and older. The country received 6,000 doses of the vaccine and between 3,000 and 4,000 tablets last week. The second dose is expected to arrive in June.
