Mozambican businesses say shortages of foreign currency and fuel are among the biggest obstacles facing companies, with both problems disrupting production and supply chains.
AIM reports, via AllAfrica, that Confederation of Economic Associations chair Álvaro Massingue highlighted limited access to foreign currency, particularly US dollars, as a major barrier to importing goods and inputs. Fuel shortages and higher diesel costs have added further pressure on operating expenses.
The business group’s second-quarter indicators showed some improvement in overall economic activity, but companies continue to cite infrastructure problems, state payment arrears and bureaucracy among the constraints holding back stronger growth.
