The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development, yesterday commemorated the Day of the African Child at Nyakosoba Primary School in Maseru under the theme: “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa.”
In her address, Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso stated the importance of ensuring that every child has access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices. She noted that these are essential rights that contribute to children’s health, dignity, and overall well-being.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development, Honourable Pitso Lesaoana, stated that the commemoration provided an opportunity to assess the efforts and progress made by the Government of Lesotho and its development partners in ensuring that all children have access to clean water and proper sanitation services.
He noted that the day also served as a moment of reflection on how stakeholders can further strengthen interventions aimed at achieving universal access to water for all children.
