The murder and robbery trial involving two men from Maputsoe was postponed yesterday because the absence of their defence and scheduled for tomorrow.
Ts’eliso Kompi and Ts’ehla Jane appeared before the High Court facing charges of murdering Maphutseng Koetle in 2017 and stealing M300 from the business where the deceased worked in Phukalla, Maputsoe.
One of the accused, Kompi, is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence after being convicted in a separate case involving the brutal murder of a former police officer.
In the current trial, evidence presented in court alleges that the accused entered the shop, where Jane pointed a firearm at the shopkeeper and demanded money. They also ordered two customers to lie on the floor.
State witness Gerald Ramatema testified that Kompi instructed Jane to shoot the shopkeeper, after which a gunshot was heard. Koetle was shot in the forehead and died at the scene.
Ramatema told the court that he recognized Kompi because they grew up together in Phukalla.
The case is being heard by Justice ‘Manapo Motebele.
