Man Fined M6,000 for Illegal Firearm Possession in Maseru

Fusi Nkoe aged 25 of Ha Ramabanta, Maseru, appeared before the Maseru Magistrate’s Court on 2 April 2026, charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

He was sentenced to pay a fine of M6,000.00 or serve four years at a correctional facility. He successfully paid the fine.

Detective Police Constable Limpho Heqoa, speaking on behalf of Operation Fiela, stated that on 1 April 2026, while they were on the road to Semonkong, they met Nkoe at Ha ’Mampho, where he was driving livestock from the grazing fields.

She explained that they stopped and searched him, and discovered a 9mm pistol along with four rounds of ammunition, for which he failed to produce any valid documentation.

Sergeant Leu Itsana has urged the public to follow proper legal procedures when acquiring firearms, rather than obtaining them unlawfully.
