43-year-old man, Retselisitsoe Nchaka, appeared before the Leribe Magistrate’s Court charged with stealing diesel worth M1,000.
According to the charge sheet, Nchaka allegedly stole the diesel from the company he works for, Kopano Ke Matla Joint Venture, a company contracted to construct a water transmission tower in Katse, Leribe.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Court documents state that he was arrested by Ha Lejone police in April last year while driving his private vehicle carrying two containers filled with a total of 50 litres of diesel. He was allegedly unable to produce proof of purchase for the fuel.
The case was postponed to 17 August for the legal representatives to proceed with the matter. It is being heard by Magistrate Tlohang Mohanoe.
