The Malawi Law Society has moved to join a court case challenging an injunction that halted a series of parliamentary committees created to examine government operations.
Nyasa Times reports that the judicial review concerns 12 joint ad-hoc committees announced by Speaker Sameer Suleiman. Malawi Law Society president Davis Njobvu said the case raises significant questions around administrative law, separation of powers and the wider public interest.
The injunction was obtained by Austin Mkoka, while the Law Society is finalising the legal paperwork needed to participate in the proceedings. The case is expected to test the boundaries between parliamentary oversight and judicial intervention.
