Lightning Strike Leaves Kholokoe Community Living in Fear

The community of Kholokoe in St Monica’s, Leribe, is living in fear following a tragic incident in which lightning claimed the lives of two people last week.
According to the village chief, Chief Mopeli Mopeli, this was not the first time such an incident has occurred in the area, as lightning has struck people there on previous occasions. In the most recent tragedy, a man and a woman, who were not related, were killed while sheltering from the rain against an unfinished wall.
Two young men and a young woman who had also taken refuge at the same spot reportedly survived the strike. It is said that they lost consciousness when the lightning hit the wall but later regained awareness, in what residents have described as a miraculous escape.
